Meet our Leadership Team
Claes Landberg, General Manager
Claes, a native of Sweden, brings over 30 years of experience to our community—ranging from small family-style boutique hotels and resorts to some of the largest luxury hotel and casino operations in the world. Starting his career at Hilton Hotels Corporation, he quickly advanced in the industry, working for Paris and Bally’s Las Vegas, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa and Casino, Morgans Hotels Group, and many more. Claes has always focused on the team member experience and creating a nurturing work environment, which helps him cultivate the very important bond between our team members and valued residents. He has a passion to help others curate some of the most important moments of their lives. Claes joined Battery Park by Sunrise to expand on this and truly make a tremendous impact of curating special moments and creating lasting memories for our residents.
Brendan McMahon, Assistant General Manager
Early in his hospitality career, Brendan worked for several New York entities, including the Smith and Wollensky Group, Madison Square Garden and New York Restaurant Associates. He chose to move into senior living in 2010, joining our community in 2014. Brendan is grateful for the relationships he has developed with residents, families, and the team at Battery Park by Sunrise. In particular, he considers himself lucky to hear firsthand the experiences of our residents, who have lived through times, both challenging and uplifting, that have impacted our current lives and the world in a lasting way. In return, he focuses on helping residents fully enjoy their home here by providing solutions to anything they need assistance with.
Whitney Bryant Glandon, Programming Director
Growing up in an environment where she was surrounded by senior adults on a day-to-day basis, Whitney was practically born into this profession. By nine years old, she was already leading movement classes—later going on to dedicate 20 years to our community. Her love, experience, and passion for seniors is exemplified through the quality, innovative, and enriching programs that she brings to our residents. As a former professional dancer who performed extensively and holds a BFA in Dance Performance & Choreography, Whitney was able to combine her two passions: her love of working with seniors and creating dance. She has appeared on various podcasts about senior living and Alzheimer’s, and in notable publications such as The New York Times, ALLURE Magazine, and the New York Post.
Jean-Louis Dumonet, Executive Chef
After graduating at the top of his class at L'Ecole Hotelière Jean Drouant in Paris—France's #1 restaurant cooking and management school—Jean-Louis trained at two different Three-Star Michelin restaurants. From there, he began his highly successful professional cooking career. He’s cooked for more than 20 years at some of the finest establishments in the world. His love for cooking was sparked by his grandmother, who raised him for his first five years. In addition, he grew up in a family of restaurateurs, with his parents owning and operating two adjacent bistros in Paris. In 1994, he was awarded the prestigious title of Maître Cuisinier de France. Jean-Louis is also a member of the James Beard Foundation and has cooked at the James Beard House.
